YOUTH MARKET GOAT SHOW

1.     This show is open to Nelson County youth engaged in an approved 4-H or FFA goat project.   Novice classes will show separately.

2.    All exhibitors may enter market wethers or market does.   Induced cryptorchids (short scrotum kids) and buck goats may not be shown.  Any wether kid showmg signs of secondary sexual characteristics may not show.

3.    All goats must meet Kentucky health requirements for exhibition and be accompanied by an approved health certificate.

4.    Novice exhibitors are limited to one entry; other exhbitors are limited to two entries.

5.    All goats must have been owned by the exhibitor as of June 1 of the current year.

6.    All goats must be born after August 15, 2008.  Animals are subject to be mouthed to check age.

7.    Market kids must be clean₁castrated (banned or surgically removed, clamping is not allowed), the animal must be clipped slick above the knee and hock joint (5/8 inch or less). No artificial color may be used.

8.    Horns are optional, but must be tipped. Tipped is defined as the end of the horn squared off to 1/2 inch in diameter or larger. All goats shown by Novice exhibitors must be disbudded.

9.    Goats will be shown by weights.

10.   All goats must be shown by the 4-H or FFA exhibitor (owner) unless the exhibitor is incapacitated (deprived of strength or ability;physically impaired) or has more than one entry in a class, then he or she may have another 4-H or FFA youth exhibit his or her animal.

11.    $200.00 premium money will be awarded on the Danish. System:

Blue (3X), Red (2X), White (lX).

12.   All goats must be on the grounds by 1:00 P.M.

13.   All exhibitors must pay front gate admission.

 

 

Showmanship Classes:

• All ages as of January 1, 2010
• Novice —8 years old and younger
• Junior —9 through 11
• Intermediate — 12 and 13
• Senior — 14 through 19
